Painting Irish Shamrocks with Peppers
I can’t think of St. Patrick’s Day without thinking about Irish shamrocks. Which is why we had fun making this wreath out of Irish shamrocks. But today I thought we’d try something new. So we painted Irish shamrocks using green peppers!
What You Need to Paint Irish Shamrocks:
- Green pepper cut in half
- Green paint
- Paint brush or paper plate
- Paper
- Paper towel
How to Paint Irish Shamrocks:
1. Press the half of green pepper onto a dry paper towel to get rid of excess water.
2. Dip the paint brush in green paint and paint the green pepper or dip the green pepper in a plate of green paint. Now say that ten times fast!
(It’s easier for older kids to paint the pepper with the paintbrush, but it’s better to have little kids just dip the pepper into a plate of green paint.)
3. Firmly press the green pepper onto a piece of paper.
4. Pull the pepper straight up off the paper so the paint doesn’t smear.
5. Use the paint brush to add a stem to the Irish shamrock.
These Irish shamrocks are a little abstract, but are great to make with large groups of kids, even preschoolers! While you wait for these Irish shamrocks to dry, you can read stories about Irish Leprechauns!
