4th of July Crafts: Pinwheel Wreath

I’m a big fan of making wreaths with my kids to celebrate holidays. Wreaths are not just for Christmas anymore! So here is a great red, white and blue pinwheel wreath to celebrate the 4th of July!

What You Need to Make this 4th of July Craft:

  • White paper plate
  • Steak Knife (Optional, but very helpful!)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Red, white and blue construction paper (We used white printer paper.)
  • Glue
  • Large paper clip

How to Make this 4th of July Craft:

1. Cut out the center part of the paper plate, without cutting through the rim of the plate.

This is where the steak knife comes in! Before I use scissors to cut out the center of the paper plate, I create a slit using the steak knife.

2. Cut out three 4 inch squares from the red, white and blue construction paper. When you’re done, you should have a total of nine squares, three of each color.

3. Fold each square in half so it’s in the shape of a triangle.

4. Glue each square to the paper plate so it overlaps the square next to it. This creates the pinwheel look.

5. Attach the large paper clip to the top of the wreath so you can hang it as a decoration.
